INFERNO GROWTH

Inferno Mobile Recording Studio presents GROWTH our 2017 residency showcase
Saturday, Sept 23, 12pm-3pm
Humboldt Park Fieldhouse, 1400 N Sacramento Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
Free admission, food and refreshments served.

For 6 weeks over the summer, Inferno sent four artists-in-residence to parks all across Chicago. The selected artists work in a diverse array of disciplines, including experimental music, film, sound art, and performance, and are all extremely accomplished in their respective fields. In the parks, they led collaborations with and between young people and park patrons exploring music, field recording, therapeutic sound art, video, storytelling, digital media, and journalism. At GROWTH, the artists will present the work they’ve built from those sessions:

Emme Williams [Fastness, Organsm]: an audio/visual project presenting and reinterpreting recordings made with Arts XIII campers on the themes identity, community, and solidarity.

Ed Bornstein [Foul Tip, #WADDUPPSONN!?, Carpet Museum]: 2 short documentaries: one about the Fresh Moves bus, shot and edited by TRACE staff; another on the work TRACE did this summer concerning urban agriculture and food justice (with footage and testimonials from TRACErs).

Rob Frye [Bitchin Bajas, Flux Bikes, El Is A Sound Of Joy]: an interactive musical project inviting visitors to listen to, mix and layer loops of park sounds recorded or created by day campers.

Ben Lamar Gay [Bottle Tree, Juba Dance]: a performance in which the artist (and a special guest) reshape and improvise over sounds and music made with and by CPD special recreation participants.
